Walker Buehler Scouting Report:
Buehler headlines the trio of potential first-round selections from Vanderbilt.
Buehler had a helluva spring and summer which began by Vanderbilt capturing the College World Series title. During the summer he shared the playoff MVP honors in the Cape Cod League. Walker Buehler offers four very polished offerings that are quite possibly MLB average if not better. It all starts with his 94-96 mph heater and he compliments that with his impressive slider and curve. His changeup is his worst pitch. He was a highly recruited product out of Kentucky High School a few years ago and he opted to head to Vandy instead of signing with the Pirates who drafted him the 14th round. The only knock on him is his size, 6’1″, 160 lbs is not the most physically imposing figure but Sonny Gray has made a pretty good career with a similar size body.
